Chu-sok

This week is Chu-sok, Korea's version of Thanksgiving. The people will load up the cars, drive to the country and visit the grandparents. The cities will empty and there will be bowing everywhere. This can be a lonely time for a foreigner, but that won't be the case for me. I'm leaving for Beijing today. Unfortunately, I'll only have 4 days, 5 nights. Because of the shortage of time, my friend and I booked the trip through a travel agent. Normally I despise traveling in this manner, but we need the arrangements and the planning done for us. We don't have any time to figure things out so this will be good for us. The first day, we'll go to the Temple of Heaven, eat some duck and watching an acrobatic show- I've heard this is really impressive. We'll do the Great Wall the following day and see Tian'anmen Square and the Forbidden City the next two days. Saturday is free time so I plan to spend it searching all of Beijing for the cheap Air Jordans. I know, somebody is working very hard for no money to make these shoes, but this is the only chance I'll have
to buy 5$ Jordans. Shopping in China all comes down to your bartering skills. In the West, we're not too versed in the art of bargaining but I've improved a lot in my time here. I'm looking forward to the challenge. I'll provide pics and stories next week. Go Bears!
