Take Me Home Mikey

Well, I saw home tonight and it wasn't through the internet or TV. I was brought back through the strange agreement of all five senses and then some. I was walking out of Swaton, listening to Grandaddy and waiting at the light. There was a man across the street who, by his style and strut, alerted me. He seemed patient, at peace. I studied him and felt that lighting impulse of seeing a long lost friend. I think the lyrics "applebees and chucky cheese" floated through my headphones at the opportune time, easing my headtrip back home. He resembed my old friend Mike Vanwambeke. As I studied him from more then 15 feet away, this consideration that I hadn't felt in so long changed me, momentarily, but strikingly. It's been so long since I expected to see someone I knew. The light turned green and I passed him. Up close he was Korean, of course, but the feeling was refreshing nonetheless. It was his aura (excuse the hippie talk) that shook me more than anything. The man looked too casual and down-to-earth to be Korean. Perhaps I've been gone too long.

I never thought I'd live to see the White Sox win a World Series. It's amazing and I'm thrilled! To bad D you were away for this but I'm glad you still got to watch the games across the way. Hope you are feeling better and maybe next year we can go catch a game.
Take care, Az
