Temporary shelter....

Annyong friends,

Is there anybody out there? If not, I know my lack of entries are to blame. Somehow this website appears only in Korean on my computer. And, since my computer can't read Korean letters, it's all a mess of circles and symbols. I'm at my office now and I was able to navigate and post this, miraculously. How is ya'all?

We're undergoing a typhoon right now and outside everything is drenched. I struggled to a coffee shop this morning, bumping umbrellas with all the other brave souls. Wet, windy and wild- Korean style! I'm preparing for my father's visit, less than a week away! I can't really fathom how he's going to enjoy Korea, but I will try and provide the opportunity to see Korea's magic. I think we'll ride some trains and buses so he can see how beautiful the uninhabited mountainous valleys and rice fields. We'll probably climb some of those mountains and see some old King's tombs. Other than that, he will no doubt have an experience trying to do various daily activities like ordering food and finding a trashcan. Ha!

I'm in the middle of the new semester now. I'm teaching 2 levels this time and many of my previous students signed up for my class again. Last week a girl told me she was sad because my classes 'sold out' and I'm 'too popular.' With very little feed-back from administration, these are the kinds of comments I rely on to remain confident in front of 40 students with ages very similar to my own. The way I see it, a baby professor must succeed with energy and enthusiasm. And I'm bringing the A-game every night!

It's 5PM on a Sunday evening and I'm planning a movie, some fried chicken and an early bedtime. I'll wake up at 5AM Monday, my time, and watch our Bears live, like all of you. Hopefully we can get back on the Superbowl track. Oh, and I need Barrian to give me some fantasy TDs- make it happen Rex!

Hope everyone is staying dry and well.
